What do we say about a person who loves Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (d. 241H) and hates Yahyā Ibn Ma’een (d.233H)? Loves Imām Ibn Bāz and hates Imām Rabee’?

Imām Adh-Dhahabee said: with my chain of narration to Al-Khateeb who said: Alee Ibn Talhah narrated to us that: Sālih Ibn Ahmad Al-Hamadhānee informed us that: Abdur-Rahmān Ibn Hamdān Ibn Marzabān narrated to us and said:

Abu Hātim ar-Rāzee (d. 277) said:

“If you see a person from Baghdād loving Ahmad Ibn Hanbal (d. 241), then know that he is a person of Sunnah and if you see him hating Yahyā Ibn Ma’een (d. 233), then know he is a liar!”

Siyar A’lām an-Nubalā 11/72 onwards.

Notes:

The same can be said about the Scholars of Sunnah and Salafiyyah even today.

This refutes people who similarly claim to love Shaykh Fawzaan or Shaykh ‘Abdul Muhsin whilst they hate other scholars of the Sunnah like Shaykh Rabee’ and Shaykh ‘Ubayd..
