Shaikh ‘Ubayd Al-Jābiri’s Condolences and Advice at the Death of our Mother

In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy.

Today, our Shaikh, Al-Wālid, the ‘Allāmah, ‘Ubayd bin ‘Abdillāh Al-Jābiri (may Allah preserve him and give him good health) called to convey his condolences to myself and my family. In accordance with the Sunnah, he began with comforting words:

أَعْظَـمَ اللَّهُ أَجْـرَكم وَأَحْسَـنَ عَـزَاءَكَم وَغَفَـرَ لِمَـيِّتِكم

“May Allah magnify your reward, and make perfect your bereavement, and forgive your deceased.”

He said, “I ask Allah to unite you and your family with your mother in Jannah ―and all of us in Jannah. I advise you, O my son, to show patience and hope in Allah’s reward.” Then he said: I remind you of the hadīth Qudsi:

Abu Hurairah narrated that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: Allah (the Most High) states, “There is not for my believing servant a reward I have for him less than Paradise if he suffers the death of one who is dear to him from the people of the world and then he shows patience in hope of reward.” (Bukhari, no. 6424)

He said: I also inform of the good news in the hadīth of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) wherein he said:

مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ يَمُوتُ فَيَقُومُ عَلَى جَنَازَتِهِ أَرْبَعُونَ رَجُلاً لاَ يُشْرِكُونَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا إِلاَّ شَفَّعَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِيهِ

“There is not a Muslim who dies, and then forty men who associate none as partners with Allah stand to pray his Janāzah except that Allah will accept their supplications for him.” (Muslim, 948)

The Shaikh informed me that he had heard that my mother had died and wished to call and comfort me. I, in return, made plentiful du’ā for our Shaikh who has never wavered in his love and concern for his sons and daughters from Ahlus-Sunnah in over 23 years that I have known him ― and likewise our Shaikh, the Imām of Sunnah, Rabee’ ibn Hādi (hafidhahullāh).

I mention these words only to inform you of the love that the ‘Ulamā of Salafiyyah, Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah, have for those upon this blessed da’wah.

Yesterday, the son of Al-‘Allāmah Rabee’ ibn Hādi Al-Madkhali (may Allah preserve him) phoned me saying: “I call you to console you, so may Allah magnify your reward, and make perfect your bereavement, and forgive your deceased.” And he made du’ā for my mother and my family. I asked Allah to bless him and preserve him. Then I asked Shaikh ‘Umar about the condition and health his father, Shaikh Rabee’ (hafidhahullāh). He responded: “All praise is due to Allah, he is well. He made du’ā for your mother and sends his condolences.”

And this is the case with others from our Mashayikh who called and sent their condolences such Shaikh Abdullāh Adh-Dhufīri and Shaikh Khālid Adh-Dhufīri ― and yesterday evening, Shaikh Sālim Bāmihriz; and also our brothers, the trusted students of knowledge: Shaikh Uwais at-Taweel, Shaikh Abdul-Mu’tee, Shaikh Muhannad Al-Battār, Shaikh Hasan As-Somali, Shaikh Abu Muhammad Al-Maghribi, Shaikh Moosā Richardson, Shaikh Anwar Wright, Shaikh Kashiff Khan, etc. Abu Maryam’s recent tweet is sufficient as a read with respect to the unity of Ahlus-Sunnah and the mutual love they have for each other.

Of course, I cannot fail to mention the support of my brothers, the Shaikhs and students of knowledge who attended my mother’s janāzah, and by their presence exemplified the love between the Salafis: Abu Hakeem Bilāl Davis (who also delivered a heartfelt advice at the graveside), Abu Iyād Amjad Rafiq, Abu Idrees Muhammad bin Aslam, Abdulilāh Lahmāmi, Abu Mu’ādh Taqweem Aslam, Shamsi and others ―so may Allah preserve them and protect them all from harm, and from the attacks of Ahlul-Bid’ah wal-Ahwā, and Allah is sufficient as a protector.

We ask Allah to forgive us of our shortcomings, to guide us to His pleasure and to keep us firm upon the Straight Path. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of creation and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Prophet, his family, his Companions and all those who follow him until the establishment of the Hour.
