There has appeared in these times a phenomenon that seeks to break apart the family unit and to relinquish the authority of parents… By Shaikh Al-Fawzān

Shaikh Sālih Al-Fawzān: There has appeared in these times a phenomenon that seeks to break apart the family unit and to relinquish the authority of parents over their children, and to remove the authority of the husband over his wife. Those who propound this view claim to be calling to “freedom” such that no one should have the right to correct another; and every person should take the direction they want. This phenomenon has appeared in these times and callers invite to it.

So, the one who carries out his responsibility and authority with respect to his children and his wife in those affairs that Allah has obligated upon him, they (the callers to “freedom to do as one pleases”) refer to this as cruelty and harshness towards the family! So fear Allah and maintain your duty to Him, O servants of Allah, and pay attention to your children because you are responsible for them in front of Allah on the Day of Judgement. You will be called to account for your negligence and disregard, and your leaving them to be lost.

O people, fear Allah, the Most High, and know that for every increase in danger requires also its equivalent increase in being cautious. So show caution, may Allah show you mercy, with respect to those dangers that encompass the Muslims – and the most severe of these dangers is the moral corruption of children and the homes of the Muslims. As for the homes of the unbelievers, then they are damaged by corruption from the outset. But they (the liberals and unbelievers) are campaigning for the corruption of Muslim homes so that they become like them, “They wish that you reject Faith, as they have rejected Faith, and thus that you all become like one another.” (Qur’an 4:89) They are jealous concerning the good [morals, ethics and religion] that you possess so they desire to corrupt you in your religious adherence. So fear Allah, O Muslims, and be careful.
