All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all creation; may the peace and blessing be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad, his family, his Companions and all those who follow him exactly until the establishment of the Hour.

The following are chapters from Shaikhul-Islām Abu Ismā`īl Al-Harawī’s: “The Book Of Forty Narrations In The Evidences Of Tawhīd” (Born 396H and died 481H -rahimahullāh)Screenshot 2015-12-08 10.27.51 This compilation is an amazing series of narrations in the establishment of the Tawhīd of Allāh, the Mighty and Majestic, especially in the arena of the Names and Attributes that has left the Jahmiyyah and their offspring such as the Ashā`irah and Māturīdīs dumbstruck just as Allāh has said:

وَقُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ ۚ إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا

“And say: ‘The Truth has come and falsehood has been vanquished. Surely! Falsehood is ever bound to be wiped out.’” (Al-Israa 17:81)

Chapter 19: Affirmation of Two Eyes for Allāh, the Most High, Who is free of all deficiencies:

Abu Ismā’īl Al-Harawī (481H) with his narration to Anas ibn Mālik (رضي الله عنه) who said that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلاَّ وَقَدْ حذر أُمَّتَهُ الأَعْوَرَ الْكَذَّابَ أَلاَ إِنَّهُ أَعْوَرُ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمْ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ وَمَكْتُوبٌ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ ك ف ر

“There has not been a Prophet except that he warned his nation of the one-eyed liar. Behold that he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. On his (the Dajjāl’s) forehead  are written the letters ka-fa-ra (i.e. kāfir).”

Notes:

This hadeeth was reported by Bukhāri, Fathul-Bāri 13/91 no. 7131, and 13/389 no. 7408, Chapter:

باب قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَ

وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِي – 20:39

Chapter: “…In order that you may be brought up under My Eye.”

And His saying concerning the Ark of Nooh (عليه السلام):

تَجْرِي بِأَعْيُنِنَا جَزَاءً لِّمَن كَانَ كُفِرَ – 54:14

“[It was] sailing under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected.”

Also reported by Muslim (4/2248, no. 101, 102); Abu Dawood (4/494-495 no. 4316, 4317); Tirmidhi (no. 2346).

Ad-Dajjal was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), so he said:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَخْفَى عَلَيْكُمْ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيْسَ بِأَعْوَرَ ـ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى عَيْنِهِ ـ وَإِنَّ الْمَسِيحَ الدَّجَّالَ أَعْوَرُ الْعَيْنِ الْيُمْنَى كَأَنَّ عَيْنَهُ عِنَبَةٌ طَافِيَةٌ

“Allah is not hidden from you, He is not one-eyed.” And he pointed with his hand towards his eye, adding, “Indeed Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjāl is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a protruding grape.” Reported by Bukhāri, no. 7407.

Ad-Dārimi (رحمه الله) said: “The explanation of the statement of Allah’s Messenger, ‘Indeed Allah is not one-eyed’ is that He (the Most High) is the Seeing who has two eyes (بصير ذو عينين), not like the one-eyed [Dajjāl].” (An-Naqd ‘alā Bishr Al-Mareesee, p. 48)

Abu Bakr Ibn Khuzaymah, died 311H (رحمه الله) stated:

“We say: Our Lord, the Creator, has two eyes and He sees with them what is beneath the soil, and what is beneath the seventh and lowest earth, and what is in the highest heavens, and whatever is between them, whether small or great…” (Kitāb At-Tawheed p. 52, Dār Al-Kitāb Al-Ilmiyyah)

Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’ari, died 324H (رحمه الله) stated about the Mu’tazilah:

“They – meaning the Mu’tazilah – deny that Allah has two eyes even though He, the Most High, said about Himself, “[It was] sailing under Our Eyes.” (54:14) and the hadeeth of the Dajjāl is clear for the one who ponders over it with the least amount of reflection that Allah (the Mighty and Majestic) has two eyes. And if that were not the case then the purpose for the clarification of the perfection of Allah with respect to His eyes would be lost.” (End) Meaning that the Dajjāl is deficient in that he is one-eyed, and your Lord is perfect in that He has two eyes that befit His Majesty, “And there is none like unto Him, and He is the All-Hearer, the All-Seer.”

Ibn ‘Uthaimeen (رحمه الله) stated:

“We believe that Allah, the Most High, has two real eyes. And this is the saying of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamā’ah. Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’aree said: The saying of Ahlus-Sunnah  and the As-hāb Al-Hadeeth is that Allah  has two eyes, without saying ‘how’ just as Allah has said, “[It was] sailing under Our Eyes.” (54:14).”

(See Izālatus-Sitār ‘an Al-Jawāb Al-Mukhtār li-Hidāyatil-Muhtār of Ibn ‘Uthaymeen, p. 22; also Al-Maqālāt Al-Islāmiyyeen 1/345, and Al-Ibānah, pp. 43-44, of Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’aree; and see footnote [1] below for the words of Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’aree that are an annihilation of the Jahmi Ash’aris of today.)

Anas narrated that Allah’s Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said:

“There was not a Prophet sent by Allah except that he warned his people from the Al-A’war Ad-Dajjāl, the One-eyed Liar. Indeed, he is one-eyed and your Lord is not one-eyed. There will be written between his eyes, the word kāfir.” (Bukhāri 7131, Muslim 2933)

And all praise is due to Allāh, the Lord of all creation.

The Arabic Text:

Kitāb Al-Arba’een Fi Dalā’il At-Tawheed of Abu Ismā’eel Al-Harawee, Chapter 19.
Radd Al-Imām Ad-Dārimi ‘Uthmān Ibn Sa’eed ‘Alā Bishr Al-Mareesi Al-‘Aneed
Radd Al-Imām Ad-Dārimi ‘Uthmān Ibn Sa’eed ‘Alā Bishr Al-Mareesi Al-‘Aneed – affirming the two eyes for Allah in refutation of the Jahmiyyah (and the Ash’ari faction of the Jahmiyyah) who deny that Allah has two eyes. Read the third and fourth paragraph. Clear ‘aqeedah of the Salaf in affirming for Allah two eyes. Ad-Dārimi is an Imām of the early Salaf.

The saying of Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’aree in Al-Maqālāt Al-Islāmiyyeen 1/345 and Al-Ibānah, pp. 43-44, that is rejected by the later Jahmis posing as followers of Abul-Hasan Al-Ash’ari (soon to be translated on this website, inshā’ Allāh):
